How To Make Chii Ears Without Spending
By: GoddessRaven
NOTES: This is a self-help document to help people who are having a hard time making persocom ears. This is intended for personal home use only! Don’t take this document without my permission.
Thank you!
I cannot accept all of the credit for making this tutorial. Kaitlyn (Filidae) thought of it first I only put it into a simple "How To…" format. Please let me know if you can’t understand this or if you have had results from this please send us a picture of you wearing the ears to: FoxyAndroid7@yahoo.com Thank you again!
PS: I do not own Chii or Chobits Clamp does. I simply made this tutorial to help cosplayers get an idea of the Chii ears.
PART ONE AND PART TWO
PART I : So you want to make Persocom ears but you don’t know how
1 A: Ok so you’ve sifted through your ideas of what to cosplay. Am I right? Well after a long period of trying to decide you picked Chii/Freya.
If your like me you’re pondering "How do I make those Persocom ears?!" Well there are several different methods used for making Chii ears:
1. Hard plastic mold = To expensive and a 50% chance you (or me ^^’) will mess up.
2. Fabric = To difficult. 50% chance you’ll end up with the wrong type of fabric. 50 % They will look really big and lumpy. I’ve seen it done and it just doesn’t look right.
3. Clay = Messy!
4. Crayola clay = This stuff is hard to work with. In my opinion anyway...
PART 2: Materials and Supplies:
1. Head band
[X] This is very important if you want your ears to stick to something, or if you want to wear them and not have them fall off at a wrong moment @__@
2. Several Sheets of pink/white and grey construction paper
[X] If you use any other type your Persocom ears won’t last as long as they are suppose to. Especially if it’s flimsy computer paper
3. Scissors
[X] Without one of these you wouldn’t be able to make the ears period. So make suer you have one available to you.
4. Tape, glue or hot glue
[X] Depending on what you want your Chii ears to look like there are three types of bonding materials you could use.
[x] Tape: The first pair of Chii ears ever to be available to me was taped together. I can’t use tape because tape just looks bad when I use it but it does tend to stay together better than glue does (in my opinion)
[x] Glue: Glue is my worst enemy. Nothing stays together when I use normal glue. It gets real messy when you use it. So for good results you really shouldn’t bother with normal glue.
[x] Hot Glue: For my Freya 2004 ears I used hot glue. It was ok but not good enough in the end I had to tape them up so they would stay on. Although as a side note I made my Freya 2004 ears in a hurry so they might of turned out better if I spent the time on them.
5. Pencil and a good eraser
[X] I’m not going to lie to you. While tracing or drawing out the shape of the ear you might mess up. So keep one or two with you while your working with construction paper.
