Juri Yu Yu Hakusho AWA 9

Yes I have pictures i'm just uber embarrised by them sorry!

Costume Pluses: When we saw Yu Yu Hakusho fans they knew who I was some people asked hey arent you that announcer chick? I liked carrying around the microphone.

Costume Mess-Ups: I should of used sew on Velcro instead of the sticky kind you just stick on I didnt make them the right length so they did not stay together so they were all the way down crumpled around the boots. The arm gauntlets were somewhat annoying because they threatened to come down also but they were more stable then the leg ones. Everyone kept stepping on my tail trashing the end part and making a hole in my tail making the coat hangers come out. Gahhhhhh Just to let you know I will be revamping my costume.

Awards Won: didnt participate in contest

Status: retired

Series: Yu Yu Hakusho

Completed: 2003

Inspiration: Laura and I are obsessed with Yu Yu Hakusho so she randomly suggested that we should go as the announcers, good idea and besides She said I resemble Juri. I think we were the first ones to attempt these costume, if anyone else has done this costume except for us e-mail me.

Tasks: 1. Pink, orange, aqua blue, purple Fabric 2. Velcro 3. safety pins 4. tank top 5. work out shorts 6. ribbon, wire 7. tissue paper

Hours to Make: more than 5 weeks (mainly because I didnt have time to work on my costume)

Total Cost: I had the tank already, the fabric altogether/with ribbon was about 20$ to 30$ the shorts were about 15$, the Velcro was a cheap crap, everything else I had

Favorite Aspect: The top pink thing she wears, carrying around the microphone, the arm gauntlets and the tail

Hardest Task: Making the blasted leg warmers! GAHHHHHHHH!!! That was incredibly annoying!! I should of bought the sew on Velcro instead of the cheap sticky stuff! Man I always take the easy was out of things really it was my moms idea. I also had trouble with the hat and the ears (well just getting the main shape of them I had to make many of them to fit the shape I made the first time I kept making them all to small.)

First Worn at: AWA 9

Construction: The top thing out of the pink fabric, really I had no idea how I did the top one. I made the skirt thing out of pink fabric. I made the leg warmers and the arm warmers out of orange fabric and how I got them to stay on was Velcro (BLAST THE VELCRO FOR BEING SO UNCORAPORATIVE!) The tail was very easy what I did I made the main shape of the form of the tail sewed it and stuffed it and to get it to bend like hers I put coat hangers in the tail. And I made the tail end with wire and tissue paper, thats also how I made the ears. I made the necklace out of my purple ribbon and purple fabric; I just cut a bow shape and glued it on.

Thoughts on this costume: after I looked at my pictures I felt a bit disappointed I could of done better on it. I mean I could of done better with all the time I had.
